Happy Halloween and Day of the Dead!

VHS tapes repurposed as art
“‘Tube’, a work that the artist [Zilvinas Kempinas] first realized during a six-month stay at Atelier Calder in 2008, creates a dramatic enclosed walkway over 80 feet long from stretched lengths of videotape. The work is one of the latest in a series employing Kempinas’ signature medium of unspooled magnetic tape, works that have inventively exploited the strength and ultra-lightweight nature of tape to create beguiling and seemingly contradictory physical spectacles that skillfully subvert relationships with architecture, form, and space.”

At last, a practical use for those plastic VHS tape boxes
A repurposed VHS tape case does double duty here: First, as wall-mounted storage, and second, as display space.
Things other than photos, like small pieces of artwork or mementoes, could be displayed on the front of the case — use your imagination!

Today’s enhancement idea, post 1 of 2:
To add some flair to a gift package, upcycle an old VHS tape as ribbon. Other magnetic tape formats, such as cassette, eight-track, and reel-to-reel, will also work. (via Daily Danny, who reminds us that “black goes with everything”!)
