A Site for Secondhand Baby and Kids’ Gear - NYTimes.com
“Baby and kids’ gear now is fantastic: it’s beautiful, modern and well designed,” said Michelle Lehmann, a mother of two, ages 5 and 3. “It’s also really expensive.” That’s why she and her husband, Daniel, started reCrib, an online market for gently used furniture and toys for children.
Self-described “design junkies” — the couple owned the SoHo tableware store Clio, which closed about a year ago — they hope to connect parents who have gear they no longer use with new parents who need it.
On reCrib.com, sellers can post things like cribs, strollers and high chairs, specifying whether they can be picked up, delivered or shipped (listings are free in May, then about $3 for a single item). For buyers, the appeal is that most items are less than half the retail price.
