Developer bets people will buy “micro-homes”
In Portland, Oregon, developer D.R. Horton is building a new development of 29 “micro-homes” — ranging in size from 364 to 687 square feet (for two-bedroom models). Aimed at car-free buyers, the garage-less condominium homes are being built in a neighborhood that has a high Walk Score (which is great to see mentioned as a selling feature), with a Zipcar station nearby. Additional selling points include a community garden, and the use of “salvaged and sustainably produced materials” in the condos’ construction.
