“With the discarded books that I have acquired, I am attempting to blur the line between objects, sculpture, and photography. This project has become a journey that continues to evolve.” –Cara Barer
[Houston-based photographer] Cara Barer’s archival digital photographs seek to document the physical evolution of the common found object into a sculpture in the state of flux. By changing their physical form, Barer’s common objects take on new meanings. In an age of when the Internet is quickly becoming the primary source of information, Barer’s photographs act as a lament for the passing of an era when books were considered a pathway to knowledge.
