Verizon Asks Permission to Stop Delivering Phone Books [in Virginia and Maryland] - GOOD
If approved, Virginia and Maryland will join New York, Florida, and Pennsylvania in making the receipt of residential phone books an opt-in process. Of note: ”If Verizon were to stop providing phone books in all 12 states (plus D.C.) where it’s the main carrier, that would save an estimated 17,000 tons of paper each year.”
Related: Our recent post about a stunt — the gathering and return en masse of 500 unused Yellow Pages copies to a Yellow Pages office — making a statement about unwanted phone books; includes links, one to opt out of printed directory deliveries.
